Biodiversity is defined as the ecosystem and the diversity of everything in it. Issues that can be seen in biodiversity can relate to issues that threaten cultural diversity. Biodiversity provides ecosystem goods. Limit those goods and a community loses the resources it once had. Therefore the government should monitor the preservation of land and agriculture so that many cultures do not lose the resources they depend on.
Because biodiversity provides ecosystem goods, eliminating resources such as ingredients for the foods of various culture will result in loss of diversity. Also, people depend on their environment for food. Australia's Government's cultural diversity programs help the nation as a community. They address issues through government by helping to settle disputes over investments and policies. The government is inclusive of different cultures and their circumstances. This should be the way all governments protect diversity, by being inclusive and considering cultures and their individual needs.
Too much power by the government can however be a threat. The ethosphere may be threatened and the government can develop too much control over its people and how they practice their beliefs. It is important for communities to be inclusive of diverse people so that disputes may be settled without formal policies or government interference. The government should simply be of assistance when dispute are hard to settle and to oversee fir jurisdiction.

Global Interdependence has allowed countries to share ideas, goods, and even their way of life. With a population of 10.1 million people it is inevitable more people to share their customs with the world, and with such a large population, there is dependence on other countries for various resources. One example of interdependence is the trade of sugar, coffee, and tobacco. The Dominican Republic is a major exporter of these goods. It has positive effect on the country as it benefits from tourism and free trade zones (International Living, 2013).

A second example of global interdependence is market jobs. A negative effect on the Dominican Republic is income inequality. The distribution of revenue from GDP is not equal as the poor receive less than one-fifth. However, the rich enjoy over forty percent (International Living, 2103). Unemployment paired with minimum wages will be an issue for the Dominican Republic for decades to come.

Going even further into the negative aspects of global interdependence in the Dominican Republic is the effect of trade on women. Women are not only expected to work in factories and being severely underpaid, but also in danger of human trafficking. With global interdependence came the ability to trade nearly anything with the globe, including women (United Nations Office, 2012). There is a market for the trafficking of women and the only ones who benefit from this type of interdependence are the men who sell them. This is an example of how interdependence can also be dangerous.

In the Dominican Republic men and women play large roles, whether in their families, or in the economic system. Men and women living in the lower class have a difficult time aquiring employment (Countries and their cultures 6). Approximately one-quarter of men and women are currently unemployed. Women are more likely to find employment, whether in factories or as seamstresses, but men recieve higher pay rates than women.
Conditions in the roles women play change as we move into the middle class. Women who live in middle class have had roles as housewives. The men, who are main bread winners have dominance in the house. However, in more modern times, women have control over how many children they have. With less rsponsibilities at home women are deciding to persue careers and are continuing their education. The role of women is more important in modern times as their voices are now being heard and  they can be self sufficient.
